The problem

E-invoicing rules, without the IT project.

Germany's e-invoicing rules are changing fast, and a PDF is no longer enough for B2B invoices.

Before

A legal deadline

Every German business must be able to receive e-invoices since 1 January 2025, and sending becomes mandatory in 2027 and 2028.

With Paylists

Paylists sends and receives Peppol e-invoices from day one.

Before

Invoices rejected or unread

A PDF is not an e-invoice. Customers' systems can reject invoices that don't meet the standard.

With Paylists

Every invoice is validated against EN 16931 before it leaves.

Before

No IT team to connect

Access points, identifiers and formats are a technical project for most small businesses.

With Paylists

Paylists is your Peppol connection. Sign up, verify your business and send.

German rules

What the law requires.

Since 1 January 2025, every German B2B business must be able to receive structured electronic invoices (E-Rechnungen). From 2027, larger companies must send them too, and from 2028 the obligation extends to all businesses.

An E-Rechnung is not a PDF. It is structured data following the European EN 16931 standard. Paylists issues invoices in Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and delivers them over Peppol, or by email where needed.

Receiving mandatory for all B2B

Every German business, including SMEs, must be able to receive structured e-invoices.

Transition for sending

PDF and paper invoices still allowed for issuing, with the buyer's consent.

Sending mandatory, revenue above €800k

Larger and mid-sized companies must issue E-Rechnungen.

Sending mandatory for all B2B

Every German business must issue structured e-invoices to other businesses.
